I will repeat what I said in an earlier UEFA Champions League preview I made involving Napoli: “They seem to have abandoned their hopes to win the scudetto in Serie A to focus on the CL.”

Napoli vs. Genoa OVER 2.5 Goals (+103)

Napoli need to do whatever it takes to catch the leaders and as such, they can’t afford to rest the “Holy Trinity” (Cavani, Hamsik and Levezzi). These guys have really been abused by Mazzari and yet they seem to come through when it counts. Napoli face a Genoa team that are tied with them and losing at home is not an option.

Genoa is a difficult team to play against. They have a reputation of playing everyone very hard and have a good mix of new and old to make any competitor take notice. They won their last match against Bologna but travelling to a hostile stadium in Napoli will not be easy on them. Frei will have to play his best to keep the ball out of the net.

Genoa has not impressed me away from home and I am a little disappointed with the sloppy defending Napoli has shown in recent matches. Both teams will play wide open and that should lead to many chances.This should be an entertaining match.

I expect an early goal from Genoa, thanks to sloppy defending, in the first 20 minutes; but a furious comeback from Napoli should get them the win they need and the Over that I need. LOL. At least I hope so.

Yes you are right, it seems he's out until February. Well that will mean that Pandev should be in the mix. I actually welcome this change in the line-up. The change may be just what is needed.

Also, this is looking more and more like a very agressive minded game plan for Napoli. There are some injuries in the Genoa camp that they will want to capitalize on. I expect Genoa to fight hard for a victory against a very suspect home side.

Not the way I thought it was going to go but it looks like the line up disruption at the front has helped Napoli.

I'm a huge footy fan and I saw this pick of yours earlier today and couldn't help but agree so I put $15 on it and like the other guy said, 27 minutes in, we already have a winner!

I must say, I expected it to be more like 4-2 or something not as one-sided.

Been a great soccer day for me as I also won two long-shots in Odemwingie scoring the first goal and WBA taking it after years at St. James Park vs. Newcastle.

Let's hope the other sports hold up now.

I follow footy alot, Serie A, EPL, and I pick my spots in CL. Trying to figure out Brazil recently and A league. I only recently started posting my stronger plays.

TFC is in the Concacaf CL spring session and Canada plays Cuba in June for WCQ, you should be very happy about that.

Yeah your totals record is very impressive so far. Keep us up to date with your predictions and thoughts. It'll be nice to exchange thoughts with you and take some of your picks.

I'm not big on Canada or TFC and wouldn't bet A-league or Brazil but European Football I know like back of my hand including German Bundesliga and even French Ligue 1. My specialty is EPL though and I'm also pretty comfortable with La Liga and Serie A.

Can't wait for next round of CL matches! It'll be interesting to pick your brain and see what good bets we can come up with there. I'm particularly curious to see what odds they'll assign to the APOEL vs. Lyon game seeing as how normally Lyon would probably be heavy favourites but this CL campaign, it's been the opposite and they've been VERY poor and very lucky to be in this round and APOEL of course were group winners as I'm sure you know against 3 quality teams. Who'll be favourite even? Will Lyon's super experience in CL knockout rounds give them the edge over the Cypriot champs? I think it probably will but we'll find out I guess. Either way, can't wait!
